Geylang Serai
The flats at Geylang Serai consisting of 3 blocks of 11-storey 2-room flats, 3 wet markets and ground floor shops were built between 1963 and 1966. The estate is a Malay settlement as there were many Malay households living in the nearby kampongs in Eunos and Kaki Bukit. Therefore, most of the food stalls in the market and food centre were selling Malay goods and Muslim food with bazaars being set up during the Ramadan season. However, the flats and markets were being en-bloc and subsequently demolished in 2006 with the estate being renamed as "Sri Geylang Serai" and a new market being rebuilt in its place with long-time stallholders moving back to the new market by 2011.
